A friction hinge ensures that the handle will not inadvertently drop down when it is in the up position. The rail holds its position, even when halfway up, which means it won’t fall down unexpectedly. Unlike other bathroom safety rails, the rail is designed with an innovative offset rail to avoid wrist strain when users are sitting down or pulling up from a seated position. This toilet safety rail is 1.5 inches in diameter and is ADA compliant. The rail also exceeds ADA 4.26.3 structural strength requirements for grab bars and fasteners of 250 pounds, and the maximum user weight for this product is 400 pounds.
