Q: Is it necessary to be able to bend your ankle to use the Easy On Sock Aid? I'd like to get this for my father-in-law but he isn't able to bend his ankles. He currently uses the blue sock aid with the straps to hold onto, but this looks like it may be a little easier if it'll work without ankle bendage. Thanks!

Asked by: Brittany - 12/8/2016
A: Yes, you do have to angle your ankle down slightly.

Q: how is this easy for a one handed user to place the sock over the device? The device is actually bigger that a foot for trying to start to put in on one handed.

Asked by: - 7/19/2016
A: It would be more difficult, but should still be doable. You can hook the sock on the corner, then work it around. This is easier with an above ankle sock as opposed to below the ankle since there is more material.

Q: What is the largest size men's foot, or shoe size that will comfortably fit into this?

Asked by: Dave - 9/6/2015
A: This is hard to say because it is typically the width, not the length, of the foot that can be a hindrance. This sock aid is 4 inches wide so if you have a wider foot you will probably have to hold your foot at an angle before sliding it through.

Q: can this devise be used for compression knee high socks/stockings ?

Asked by: jim - 9/2/2015
A: No, this unit is intended to remain planted on the ground when donning a sock. It would be difficult to pull the Easy On Easy Off up to put on anything above the ankle. You might want to take a look at AMI73855 or ASE300 for compression stockings.

Q: Just curious with the much higher cost of this product vs. the typical rigid sock aid- does it work better- or is it essentially the same? And can truly disabled people use it well? I watched the vide0- and the young lady was moving her legs in a way that most of my patients can not. (I am an Occupational Therapist with 23+yrs of experience in orthopedics/long term care/out patient/ and skilled nursing facilities)

Asked by: margo dierdorff - 9/2/2015
A: Although the basic task is the same, it helps you don a sock, the Easy On Easy Off does have various characteristics that make it easier to use than other sock aids. Such as the shaft that helps you take off and pick up the sock as well as picking the sock aid up. It is primarily intended for people who have difficulty bending over to put on or take off socks. It does take a certain level of dexterity in the legs to use, so people with less lower extremity coordination might find it difficult to use.

Q: Will this (or another device) work on the very low socks that only go up to the ankle? I had double knee replacement and can't bend my knees too much. I have a lot of trouble putting these socks on when I wear tennis shoes.

Asked by: DAVE - 8/28/2015
A: Ankle socks do not typically have a lot of stretch in the neck of the sock, since the neck is so short. You should still be able to stretch them over though.

Answer provided by: Banks (8/29/2015)
A: Being an Orthopaedic nurse I can tell you and you really need to know, you need FYI work on that knee bend. If you don't achieve a good bend you have just wasted your time and money have a knee replacement done. To remove any swelling you need to work on that bend. The only thing stopping the bend is not enough stretching of those ligaments in and around the knee. Good luck with it.

Q: Do Easy on/off sock aids have large or small sizes? I'm 6' and 13 shoe size. Difference in green or blue? Are they for knee high 20-30 compression stockings. Is there a video using the gizmo?

Asked by: Roy - 7/1/2015
A: Size variations are not available but it could be an issue. However, customer's with larger feet should be able to angle their foot slightly if the kit is not wide enough. There is no difference in the colors. This is primarily for socks, not stockings. A video is available in the product description.
