Q: How do you determine size for the "metagrip" thumb brace? I am a male and wear a size medium in a golf glove for example.

Asked by: Gary Head - 1/4/2021
A: Please see the size guide in the description: Use a soft measuring tape to measure the circumference of your hand just below the knuckles of all fingers, excluding the thumb. Choose the appropriate size from the chart. NOTE: This measurement is only a guideline for determining size, as it cannot take into account the size/shape of your thumb. If your measurement is near the size break point, only trying on both sizes can allow you to determine the best fit. Size 1 fits 6-3/8 - 7- 3/4 inches, Size 2 fits 7-3/4 - 9 inches, Size 3 fits 9 - 10-1/4 inches.

Asked by: Judee - 11/6/2020
A: We are not a medical provider and we do not file insurance. The order confirmation must be attached with the correct code for filing L3924-CG: Hand finger orthosis, without joints, may include soft interface, straps, prefabri-cated, off-the-shelf. Reimbursement is the decision of each insurer.

Q: Can I buy a replacement strap for my PUSH thumb CMC brace. I'm a physical therapist with CMC OA . Thanks Roger

Asked by: Roger - 11/20/2019
A: The short answer to your question is that BraceLabs does not offer replacement straps for the MetaGrip. The manufacturer does not want to jeopardize its effectiveness to provide this (seemingly) easy fix. The life of the straps for the MetaGrip brace is not something that can be easily predicted, nor can we guarantee it for a stated period of time. This is due to the many different lifestyles and activities of each individual wearer, as well as the care the wearer uses preventing outside elements; i.e. chemicals and debris, from contacting the straps. If you purchased the brace in 2015-2016, and can provide the serial number, please contact us for more information. Braces that qualify from that period may be replaced by BraceLab.

Q: I wanted to know if it was anything I could do about my velcro not sticking. It’s about a year old but it’s the best brace I’ve had for my condition.

Asked by: Keonna - 7/17/2019
A: Try cleaning the velcro with a mild soap and small brush (like a toothbrush). If that doesn't work you may have to replace the velcro which should be available at most stores but may have a larger selection of sizes in a fabric store such as Hobby Lobby or JoAnn's.

Q: How do I figure out what size I am?

Asked by: Linda - 5/8/2019
A: Measure the circumference of your hand just below the knuckles of all fingers (except the thumb). Chose size from the size chart below:

Size 1 fits circumference between 6 3/8 - 7 3/4 inches
Size 2 fits circumference between 7 3/4 - 9 inches
Size 3 fits circumference between 9 - 10 1/4 inches

PLEASE NOTE: This measurement is only a guideline for determining size, as it cannot take into account the size/shape of your thumb. If your measurement is near the size break point, only trying on both sizes can allow you to determine the best fit. The Push Thumb CMC Brace is not intended for all problems of the thumb. We strongly recommend you be measured and have the fit evaluated by a medical professional.
