Wanchik's Writer - Discontinued

Interesting but hard to work with finger arthritis. Primary problem is index and pen holder is not in a workable position. If, these two positions were extended to the side a bit more, it would be a very workable tool! I will make some adjustments so my wife can maybe use it!

This is an absolutely fantastic product. As a graduate student I hurted my hands with RSI by excessive typing. 6 months later, I lost the ability to write. Tingling on my fingers, then increasing pain resulted if I tried to write, and as a mathematician, writing is how we think. You can't do any math work without writing. I almost had to drop out of school. This tool is what saved my career. I finished my Ph.D, got faculty jobs, and now I am a tenured Mathematics professor. As a professor, I used this tool to write 2800 pages of Lecture Notes by hand, which are posted on my website. I also use it to grade exams, and do research. Other technologies have been writing on whiteboard and scanning via phone app, voice recognition, typing on phone, and typing on ipad, and NaturalPoint to control my computer. I almost never have to use a keyboard anymore, and that helped to keep my hands healthy. The product is very durable. Initially I bought the wrong size and had to tinker around with it, and that broke it after 5 years. The next one I have had for 9 years. It is also very effective. The grip is exactly zero. All other products reduce the grip but there is still some. Sometimes I have to write 6-8 hours a day every day for 2-3 months straight to prepare notes for a new course while teaching it. With this tool i can do that just fine! I recommend using it in conjunction with the following pen, available on amazon: Paper Mate Liquid Flair Porous-Point Pen, Extra-Fine Tip, 12-Pack, Black (31001BH) I am also using the following paper: Ampad Gold Fibre Writing Pads, Legal/Wide Rule, Letter Size (8 1/2 in x 11 3/4 in), White, Four 50-Sheet Pads per Pack (20-031) that works best with the ink of the pen. The pen-paper resistance is almost zero, so it is perfect for reducing the strain. Also it writes great at angle, which is necessary due to the idiosyncracies of the tool. I have been told the previous manufacturer discontinued the product. I am now trying to reproduce it in a machine shop so.I have enough backups for the next 30-40 years. I really hope this company will find a way to bring this back into production..It saved my life and career. Without it, I would not be a tenured Mathematics Professor today.
